The Canadian Society for Civil Engineering presents the Camille A. Dagenais Award at Yellowknife meeting, June 6-9, 2007

This award was established in 1981 in honour of Mr. Camille A.
Dagenais, Past Chairman of the Board of SNC Group Inc., President of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering in 1972-1973 and one of the most renowned hydrotechnical engineers in the country. The objective of the award is to give recognition to those civil engineers who have made outstanding contributions to the development and practice of hydrotechnical engineering in Canada.

is warmly received on Ottawa's Parliament Hill by Prime Minister Stephen Harper
Ottawa, ON, April 2007 - On April 19th, the Canadian wing of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association
(AHEPA), under the leadership of its President, Frank Antoniou, held its first annual Parliament Hill Day in Ottawa, Ontario.
The purpose for Parliament Hill Day was to strengthen the voice of Hellenism on Parliament Hill and let Canadian Parliamentarians know what AHEPA Canada is and what it stands for. The aim is to build a foundation and solid network of formal and informal forums within the Canadian Federal Government, ultimately providing a critical space for voicing the concerns of persons of Hellenic
descent.

Banff attracts visitors from near and far for the District #24 Convention
Banff, Alberta - The May long weekend in Banff proved to be a popular draw for the 75th Annual District #24 Convention. Delegates and guests arrived from Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Regina, Calgary and Chicago to enjoy the scenery and camaraderie. PAVLO played to an appreciative audience and finally a cheque for $25,000 was presented to the Foothills Hematology Department toward Thalassemia

Montreal AHEPA Family shows its heart is full of fun at Valentine's ball that raised $35,000 for Shriners Hospital
Montreal, February 12, 2007 -
The Montreal AHEPA Family donated $35,000 to the Shriners
Hospital for Children during its 8th Annual St. Valentine's
Fundraising Ball on February 10, 2007 at the Chateau Royal in
Laval.
To date, $126,000 has been donated by AHEPA to the Shriners
Hospital as part of its pledge to finance the building of a
school within the upcoming construction of a new Shriner's
Hospital. The new hospital will be built alongside the McGill

(Deoudes). He leaves to mourn his brother Georgia (Emilia) of Arlington, Virginia his sister Paraskevi
(Kostas Mavrogianis) of Ottawa, his nieces Maria, Irene and

The Ottawa Chapter of the Daughters of Penelope raise $20,000 in support of Huntington's Disease

On October 15th, the Ottawa Chapter of the Daughters of Penelope held their first fundraiser of the year "Compassion with Fashion Show" in support of the Huntington's Society of Canada. Huntington's Disease is a fatal, inherited, genetic brain disorder that affects both the body and mind. It usually strikes an individual when they are in the prime of their life-usually in the mid-30?s. Every child of a parent with Huntington Disease has a fifty per cent chance of developing the disease. Huntington Disease touches the life of one in every one thousand
Canadians.

Frank was elected to this position at the AHEPA National Convention, which took place in Hollywood, Florida in July 2006. Frank has been a vital member of the Mount-Royal CJ7 Chapter in Montreal, Quebec for more than 15 years and brings a wealth of experience and an unmatched enthusiasm to this position. The AHEPA drew over 2,500 family members and friends to its 84th Annual Supreme Convention in Hollywood, Fla., from 25 - 30 July 2006, at The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa.
The various programs held were a great success and Vice Admiral James G. Stavridis was the highlight of our banquet by receiving the AHEPA Medal of Freedom.

Montreal AHEPA Family donates $50,000 to Shriners Hospital

MONTREAL -The Montreal AHEPA Family donated $50,000 to the Shriners Hospital for Children on February 11, 2006. The funds were raised from the 7th Annual St. Valentine's Ball, a gala affair that since its inception has donated $170,000 to children's causes in the Montreal area.
"I am extremely proud that we surpassed our fundraising efforts once again this year," said AHEPA Montreal President George
Vassilas. "By extending a helping hand to our neighbors in the greater Montreal community, the AHEPA Family's goal was to perform a philanthropic act rooted in Hellenic ideals and values.".

WASHINGTON - Helen G. Pappas, Executive Director for some twenty five years of the Daughters of Penelope passed away in the George Washington University Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Ms. Pappas became synonymous with the organization which she loved and for which she had worked first as a member and officer on every level of the organization and then as Executive Director where all matters of management were her responsibility.
