61st Annual Van Nomikos National AHEPA Invitational Basketball Tournament
New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York
The 61st Annual Van Nomikos National AHEPA Invitational Basketball Tournament will be held May 1 - 3, 2009 in New Rochelle, Westchester County, New York. New Rochelle is strategically located 40 minutes north of Manhattan and Astoria, in Westchester County. The sites of the tournament will be the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and Eastchester High School gymnasiums, both state-of-the-art facilities.
Teams that have recently participated in the tournament include Denver CO, Garden City NY, Toronto Canada, Alpha Bank, Athens Greece, Lynn MA, Brooklyn NY, Piscataway NJ, Milwaukee WI, New York NY, New Rochelle NY, Bridgeport, CT, Washington DC, Whitestone, NY and Marlboro, MA. In addition to the above teams, other interested new teams this year include Chicago IL, Baltimore MD and Peabody MA.
Games will begin with some teams playing on Friday evening and will run through Sunday afternoon. The tournament will be a double-elimination format. Entrance fee is $300 per team which includes a small giveaway for each participant. Entry forms and more details are attached. Please print out entry form, list players and mail with check for $300 to Spiro Siaggas, AHEPA National Athletic Director at the address provided on the form.
Hotel arrangements have been made at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel, located in Rye, NY, just 15 minutes from the gym sites. The special room rate is $109 per night for up to four in a room. Please ask for the "AHEPA" to receive this discounted rate before April 10. See hotel details at:
